Philosophy
POIESIS is the Greek word for creating: the act of bringing something into being. It is the root of the word poetry, and it is how we think about our work. A machine can produce endlessly, but production is not the same as creation. The results are not the same. This distance is a combination of skill and taste and its result is quality.
An image can look technically perfect and not have a soul. What we chase is this poetry. Everyone has the same tools. Our work is distinguished by the judgement and skill applied to it. The understanding of what an image needs to breathe life into it.
